who turned on the light?

Posted in Uncategorized on May 18, 2008 by sylvari

spending a very relaxing weekend on the couch watching back episodes of Firefly on hulu.com. got the blankets and pillows just so, cute chili dog playing catch with herself on the other side of the room. the dog and i are the only ones here. as a rule, i never turn on the lights. a lifetime of migraine headaches and dark rooms have become the norm. so when i went downstairs last night, i discovered the dining room light on. a room i rarely use and even more rarely walk thru. the question becomes ‘who turned on the light?’ cuz i know it wasn’t me.

oh well, no one got me during the night so i guess i’m safe…still have a headache tho.

Ode to Perfume

Posted in Uncategorized on May 12, 2008 by sylvari

I know i’m not the only person on earth that hates an excess of perfume.  especially when i can’t get away from it.  like today.  a co-worker is wearing so much that my eyes have literally started to turn red and burn like i’m high, drunk and dehydrated all at once.  now, the question becomes, can they not smell how overpowering they are?  she’s not a smoker so clearly she CAN still smell. you can’t walk up to her and say, ‘Hi.  You stink and you’re killing my brain cells.’  that’s just not friendly.

i’d propose a ban, but of the eight women in my office, the five offenders are grandma age and highly set in their ways.  i’d have better luck teaching them how to write code than getting them to change perfumes or stop wearing it at work.

suck.

Scary Texas Sink Hole

Posted in Uncategorized on May 8, 2008 by sylvari

okay so this is weird…in that sick fascinating way. saw a glimpse of it on the news – texas sink hole.

both amazing and scary that the earth will just open up and swallow you whole. as if we weren’t already grains of sand compared to the universe, now i have earth swallowing to think about.

sort of like that question, ‘would you rather be hot or cold, burn or freeze to death?’

which concept makes you feel more vulnerable and inconsequential, hole in the earth or size of the universe?  each poses their own dangers.
